Berkley Midwinter's #5

Race day tomorrow !   Its' the third race of the Berkley Mid-winter Saterday series !  We on the Can , have two 1st place wins with Tina Lunde in her  sporty Cal20 , nipping at our heal.   Tina and her crew Mark are just getting better and better. I would love to hear what their dialog is like while on the race course !  The weather is supposed to be light winds 5 to 15 with fog ,,, I am charging my batteries for the GPS as I write !

Next Weekend is the first of the Corinthian Mid-winters and we will be racing both Saturday and Sunday.
I'll be bringing my Ipod and camera tomorrow , perhaps I'll have some new pictures for ya all after the race ...

Check out this picture of the windward rounding mark in the fog from last months race ,,, Too Cool !

Three Bridge Fiasco !

The first big race of 2011 will be the Single Handed Sailing Societies , Three Bridge Fiasco !  A boat can round a buoy near the Golden Gate Bridge , round Treasure Island ( bay bridge ) and Red Rock  near the Richmond San Rafael bridge , in any order and in any direction !  The Can will be one of the first boats to start at 930am . That early in the morning there isn't usually much wind ,  so deciding your course and executing it correctly is very hard to do...  It is also one of the largest regatta's of the year and should top out with around 300 racers !  There is also some massive tides that day , a few of the other racers are joking about meeting out side the Golden Gate Bridge at mile rock.

I just heard that our team shirts were just printed ! Very cool since my two year old one is covered in stains and blood spots. Seems like the boat needs blood to win races...

The Can is also going to be prominently displayed over the bar at the San Francisco Yacht Club though the 2011 season ! Richard has purchased a photo from Lyon's imaging. Check out his awesome marine photography at : www.lyonsimaging.com... and come on by for a walk though to check out the oldest yacht club on the West coast ! ( you won't be able to eat or drink without reciprocal privileges or a guest pass )

More to come , be a fan of my blog and follow or subscribe to get updates automatically.

Cheers , Paul
